I Swapped My Perfume With Kristen Bell’s Fragrance Oil!

Hippie chic indeed!

Those of you who know me know that I have a slight obsession with all things that smell good.  Candles, soaps, essential oils, perfume.  I subscribe to both Scentbird & Olfactif and have been on the hunt for my ‘signature scent’ since junior high.  Anyway, while watching the Emmys red carpet on E!, I couldn’t believe my ears when Kristen Bell revealed that her Emmys perfume was a $4 bottle of Amber Oil she purchased from Whole Foods.

Ok, so I wasn’t the only one here but what happened next literally knocked my socks off.

Nemat Fragrance Amber Oil

It finally arrived and I couldn’t be more excited.  As I open up the bottle to give a sniff, beyond curious what made Guiliana Rancic so delighted… I quickly became puzzled when I couldn’t smell a thing.  Nothing.  Put it on my wrists… still nothing.  Intern George was actually over my house and laughed at me… he said ‘That’s what you get when you order things online.’

Yeah… I’m a sucker.  But at least I only wasted a few bucks.  It wasn’t expensive.  But wait.  I’m not sure what possessed me to wear it to work, but all of a sudden a few co-workers commented on the lovely smell.

I had to ask them to describe it… I got ‘flowery’, ‘cucumbery’ ‘woody’.  What the …?!

So now the fun began, I polled everyone who came into the studio.  ‘Can you smell this?’ 50% said yes and it was lovely (Colleen claimed it made the entire studio smell nice.)… the other 50% like me said there was absolutely nothing there.

The condition is called SPECIFIC ANOSMIA: the inability to perceive a particular odor or a lack of functioning olfaction.  Good news though…

UPDATE: Since I got SO many compliments I tried a few of the other scents in the Nemat line… (why not? They’re SO affordable!)  Fell in love with both Sandalwood & Musk Amber — both of which I CAN smell.  🙂
